Kristi Lyn’s Story
From Rock Bottom to Rebirth
I thought I was building a future in engineering. Life had other plans. Plans that would break me, reshape me, and ultimately rebuild me stronger.
It started with sinus surgery my freshman year of college in 1987. Life-saving, yes, but it left me with scars along my hairline and nose, and took away my sense of smell. I returned to school wearing cloth headbands to hide the marks, shrinking under glances I was sure carried silent judgment. Every time self-doubt crept in, my mother’s voice would thunder in my head: "You’d better walk with your head held high!" She was my fiercest champion, the one who reminded me of my strength.
Eight weeks before my wedding at 26, everything shattered. My mom was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. They gave her six weeks. I gave her everything. I moved home to care for her until the end. Her death felt like the universe snatched away my compass.
I married my college sweetheart believing he’d help fill the void. But six years later, while expecting our second child, I discovered his infidelity. I was raising our 3-year-old, navigating a high-risk pregnancy, and watching my marriage collapse in real time.
The life I dreamed of was gone. I could fold or rebuild. I chose to rebuild.
Those early months as a single mother were brutal. I juggled custody schedules, daycare drop-offs, and the staggering weight of starting over. But somewhere between sleepless nights and survival mode, I discovered skills that no classroom or career could teach:
Leading through chaos
Communicating under pressure
Solving problems with limited resources
When I re-entered the workforce, those skills naturally translated into sales and helped fuel a 15-year climb to executive leadership in the backup power industry.
Then, after 20+ years in corporate, I decided to make choices that were best for ME. It was time to discover what it would be like to really bet on myself.
Time to turn the grit, faith, and strategic fire I developed over time into something greater: helping other women rise.
From Unstuck to Unstoppable
I help women who feel stuck, unseen, or defeated rediscover the fire that lives within them. The same fire that rebuilt me.
